However, at Parish Photography, we believe that we offer one of the premier options for wedding photography in the city. Established in 1964 by Charles Parish, we have a longstanding legacy in the community. In 2011, Jenna-Beth took over the business, adding fresh ideas and a modern approach to wedding storytelling. With a classical background from Charles and an art degree from Trinity, JB and her team combine legacy with modernity in their wedding coverage.
Our Approach
A recent wedding we photographed in San Antonio demonstrated the way we tell your wedding story. The bride and groom were married at San Fernando Cathedral in downtown San Antonio. We are incredibly familiar with this church and photograph at least half a dozen weddings there every year.
The Parish team first started with a layflat of important wedding details such as invitations, jewelry, flowers, etc. It is important for our couples to remember the little things about the wedding as much as the larger ones. We then took getting ready photos of the bride and the groom, followed by portraits with their bridesmaids and groomsmen. This is called the “getting ready” portion of your story.
During the ceremony, we make sure to capture every small detail and moment. Examples include: the procession down the aisle, the guests’ reactions, and the bride and groom at the altar. We also make sure to photograph all decor and musicians for complete coverage. Immediately following the ceremony we took portraits on the steps of the cathedral, something we think is essential in every wedding.
The guests then moved to the Argyle, a private club in Alamo Heights that we are also very familiar with. We photograph many events there, including corporate events, luncheons, and rehearsal dinners. Once we arrived at the Argyle, we captured decor, setup, and the guest photos. As soon as the party started we were on the dance floor with the guests photographing great candids and dance moves! The portfolio of this wedding is similar to all the weddings we photograph in how we approach the day. We promise to tell your story from start to finish.
Why Parish?
Our business philosophy at Parish Photography is unique in several ways. We believe our beliefs set us apart from the other photographers in San Antonio. First, we do not have hourly rates for weddings. We tell your story from start to finish. That means we are there for your pajama photos to the pinning of the boutonnieres, all the way until the final dance and exit of the night. Many photographers have hourly limits, making you pay for any extra hours beyond what they offer. We offer full day coverage, which usually lasts about 8-10 hours.
In addition, we always have two photographers at every wedding. No, we do not charge extra for a second photographer! We believe that to tell your story in the most comprehensive way, it is imperative to have two different perspectives throughout the night. This allows us to capture different angles and events throughout the day. Everyone on our team is Parish trained, so your photographs will have a seamless stylistic look.
Finally, we offer a print credit in every package. We believe it is important for our customers to have something tangible to put on their walls and in their homes. While we understand we live in the digital age, we do not want photographs of one of the most important days of your life to live in the cloud forever.
Something else that sets us apart is our turnaround time. We know our bride, groom, and families are excited to relive one of the most momentous days of their lives. That is why we promise a 3-week turnaround time for photos. Many photographers take months to deliver photos (sometimes up to 6-8 months!). We know photography at a wedding is an investment, and we want to honor that investment by providing timely photos.
